Approval of Minutes:

Rod made the motion to approve the March 8, 2010 ~ Nicole seconded. Motion carried with all in favor and none opposed. LeAnne made the motion to approve the March 15, 2010 special meeting minutes ~ Tina seconded. Motion carried with all in favor and none opposed.

Superintendent’s Report:

The parks are shaping up and the City Crew is getting the restrooms ready to open by April 15.

Recreation Director’s Report:

Jennifer had a written report for the board. The pool should be ready to open June 7, 2010.

Doug asked Jim to find out what we have for overlapping projects with the Park Levy funds and the Grant Jennifer brought in so we can see what money is freed up for the levy fund. Jim will request Park Levy updates each month from Diana. Jennifer had some samples of playground equipment that can be bought separately and added on to each other as funds become available.

There was some discussion about new summer hours for the Civic Center. Noon to 8:00 PM would accommodate the people who work out on their lunch hours. There has been a huge increase in the income for the Civic Center that Jennifer can’t account for. We don’t want to lose the new people that have been coming by having such short hours as we have in the past. Also, there will be people needing to get their Kangen water refills. Jim will talk to Jennifer about increasing the hours.

Unfinished Business:

Nicole is still trying to get in touch with the City Attorney to go over the Park Board Duties and Responsibilities. Doug will try to get him to commit to Monday afternoon sometime for just a half hour.

New Business:

Nicole Altenburg declined her reappointment to the Park Board due to her church commitments and stated that Sonja Ray also declines though she doesn’t know her reasons. Nicole has spoken with Pat Montalban about being on the Park Board, and she recommends him. She said that Sonja would like to recommend Kristin Dellinger.

The board reviewed the Kangen Water Guidelines. There is now a form for all members to sign in order to prevent future misunderstandings of distribution of the water.

Other Business:

Doug presented the board with some samples of signage for entering Cut Bank. He just wanted to keep us aware of what was going on with the CTEP signage project. Jennifer asked if Doug knew when the equipment would be installed in the park. Doug read Jim’s list of projects and dates that he had plans to do the projects. Everybody agreed that it would be a good thing to have the equipment done in April, so it would be ready in May when school is getting out and T-ball is starting so the kids could start enjoying it then.

Correspondence:

The swimming pool is scheduled to be open on June 7th. Jim said that the wading pool grand opening will be held a week later so we can make sure that everything is working properly.

Jim explained how the concession area of the storage shed will be designed. He suggested not letting the swim team use it since the entire concession inventory would have to be moved or sold to them and bought back. This raised questions about why the swimming pool staff doesn’t sell concessions at the meet and why the swim team doesn’t have to pay for the use of the pool for their meet. Sunburst has been charged for pool use for their meet in the past. Doug asked Jim to bring one the pool contract/rental agreements to the next meeting for the board to review.

CHS donated 3000 pounds of fertilizer for the parks. Nicole will get a thank you note to them from the Park Board and the Urban Forestry Board.
