Cut Bank Animal Shelter is trying to give dog and cat food to local people in need through our Pet Food Bank during the holiday season. Starting in November, Tina went to the Food Pantry on Fridays and found that 72 dogs and 67 cats of 42 were in need of food. To date, we have fed 202 dogs, 5 pups and 143 cats. Billman's Inc., the Bruch's, the Wadman's, C & L Cafe, the Village, many of the area restaraunts and a generous people from Shelby (who wished to remain onimous) have donated buckets for the dry pet food. We are still short of the 169 buckets that we need to run the Pet Food Bank. Please continue to collect them and bring them to the Cut Bank Police Department, 113 East Main Street, Cut Bank MT. |

| The economic climate has made this an extreme problem not only locally by nationwide. The situation comes down to the people are not able to keep their animals due their inability to feed them. Pets are part of the family and meeting their food needs is critical. One of two things happens: 1) The family feeds the animal(s) instead of themselves; or 2) The animal starves. Finally the animal ends up on the street, where we pick them up. Some of the animals that we have received are so thin that they can be picked up by their backbone like a suitcase. | ||||||||||||||||||

In addition, we asked for donations for the Christmas Love Package of canned dog or cat food, beds, dishes and whatever you think would help make an animal's life easier. We have dry dog and cat food that has be generously donated by CHS, Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation, Richard and Helena Poist, Paul and Cara Hillestad and Margaret Knoblock for the Pet Food Bank and canned dog and cat food by M & M Iron, H.C. Davis and Anna Jeffries Grade Schools students, teachers and staff, and wonderful community members. On December 22, 2011, we were able to feed 205 animals of 76 families through the Love Package for Christmas program. Combined, we are feeding 348 for 118 families. |
