H. C. Davis and Anna Jeffries Students, Staff and Teachers
2009-2010

We hear many negative comments about kids and the things that they are doing. But, Cut Bank Animal Shelter is hear to say that we don't believe a word of it. From the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year, H. C. Davis and Anna Jeffries students, staff and teachers have been putting pennies in a jar for the animal shelter. Now, we know that a penny can't by much anymore, but when you add them together, those beautiful copper wonders can add up to big bucks. At the end of the school year, the total amount was $621.28. "Our students sold Tootsie Roll Pops for a few Fridays and between the two schools, we raised $235.00 more. We hope this will help our "furry" friends!" explained Marcia Luedtke in a note to the animal shelter. That brings the grand total to $856.28. Wow!

How will the funds be used? The money was put into our medical donation fund. The medical donation fund is for animals at the shelter to have their vaccinations. We also use the money to attend low-cost spay/neuter clinics for cats and have the cats at the shelter and the ones that we have adopted altered. We help pay for spayiing and neutering of our dogs or low-income families having their animals altered at our local vets receive $20.00 off of their bill.

Thank you, students, staff and teachers! The animals at the shelter thank you for your generosity and kindness to them. To date, we have: repaired a puppy's eye that was injured and would have been left blind; repaired a cat whose tail was smash in a door - the tail was saved; antibiotics and drainage of a cat with an abcess. We have money left for future emergencies, where an animal in need is treated and saved from a life of pain. And, it was all done by adding a penny to a jar. Wouldn't it be great if everyone or every business in town had a jar for the animal shelter?
