CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL:
 

Mayor Joni Stewart called the meeting of the Cut Bank City Council to order at 6:32 , Monday, April 21, The following Councilpersons were in attendance: Tom Shock, J. W. Eaton, William McCauley and Kelly Solberg. Payroll Clerk Jeannie Ostby, City Superintendent Jim Suta and Chief of Police Jason Abbott. All stood and recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Della Dubbe – Glacier County Librarian
Leanne Kavanagh – Cut Bank Pioneer Press

Della Dubbe from the Glacier County Library noted she had been to a Council meeting last fall when the City had agreed to help pave the new parking lot. Ms. Dubbe asked if the offer was still in place and what needed to be done to accomplish the paving. Mayor Joni Stewart said the County can do the preparation of the lot. There was a question of when there would be hot mix available for the paving. Mayor Stewart asked City Superintendent Suta to speak directly with County Road Supervisor Bill Bandel and make the proper arrangements.

 
 
CONSENT AGENDA:
 

Councilperson McCauley moved to approve the consent agenda consisting of the April 21, 2008 City Council Minutes, Chief of Police’s Report, May 1, 2008 Payroll in the amount of $48,812.48. Councilperson Solberg make the second motion. The motion passed 4-0. The City Superintendent’s report was moved to the New Business Section of the Agenda.

NEW BUSINESS:
 

Councilperson McCauley moved to approve Animal Control Officer/Code Enforcement Officer Gauthier to attend a seminar in Helena called Think Dog on June 7, 2008 at the cost of $50.00. Councilperson Solberg made the second motion. The motion carried 4-0.

Councilperson McCauley moved to approve the travel request for Michael Schultz in the amount of $186.48 and Raymond Stubbs in the amount of $69.00 to attend Standard Field Sobriety Training in Great Falls from April 28-30, 2008. Councilperson Shock made the second motion. The motion was approved 4-0.

City Superintendent Suta discussed the severe damage to the women’s restroom at Main Street Park. The crew is working on repair which will be a time intensive process. City Superintendent Suta estimated the repairs at the of $1500.00 without labor costs. One of the Councilpersons said Gloria Taylor had spoken with them regarding donations to the swimming pool for a new baby pool. Mayor Stewart said a special account will be set up to receive this money. Councilperson Shock moved to approve the City Superintendent’s report followed by a second from Councilperson Solberg. The motion carried 4-0.

Councilperson Shock moved to approve the travel request for City Superintendent Suta to attend CTEP training in Missoula April 16-18, 2008. Notice of the training was not received in time to be approved prior to attendance. Councilperson Solberg made the second motion. The motion was approved 4-0.

Councilperson McCauley made to motion to approve a classification increase for Cody Fetters from Class 3 ($14.29/hr) to Class 2 ($15.45/hr). Councilperson Shock made the second on the original motion. The motion carried 4-0.

 

 
 
CORRESPONDENCE:
 

The Park Board has requested the park levy to move to the general election in November in order to properly educate the public regarding the City’s request.

 
 
WORK SESSION
 

The Council and Mayor went into a work session with Chief of Police Jason Abbot regarding his 2008-2009 budget.

 
 
ADJOURNMENT:
 
The Council meeting was adjourned later in the evening. There was no recording person to put down the exact time, but the work session was recorded.
