APRIL 14, 2008
 
 
I. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL:
 
Council President J. W. Eaton called the meeting of the Cut Bank City Council to order at 12:10 PM, Monday, April 14, 2008. The following council members answered roll call: J. W. Eaton, Kelly Solberg and Tom Shock. City Clerk-Treasurer Diana Filban and City Superintendent Jim Suta were also present. Mayor Joni Stewart and Councilperson McCauley were absent. All present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

II. APPROVAL OF MARCH 2008 CLAIMS:

 
Councilperson Shock moved to approve the March 2008 claims for payment in the amount of $93,378.54. Councilperson Solberg made the second motion. The motion carried 3-0.
 
 

III. APPROVAL OF COST ESTIMATE ON A NEW MOWER FOR THE CITY PARKS:

 

City Superintendent Suta presented the Council with figures from Frontline Ag for a new John Deere lawn mower. Frontline Ag will give the City $12,140.00 as a trade on the old mower and there is $7,500.00 earmarked in the General Fund CIP for the mower. Superintendent Suta said he would like the Council to approve a budget amendment for the additional $4,480.00. The Council briefly discussed the matter. Clerk-Treasurer Filban asked if Frontline Ag would be willing to put the final payment off until July 1, 2008 when there would be new budget funds. Superintendent Suta said he would talk to Frontline Ag about an arrangement. Councilperson Shock made a motion to accept the offer from Frontline Ag for the new John Deere mower. In addition, he noted the financial arrangements would be acceptable either by a budget amendment to the fiscal year 2007-2008 budget or arrange a final payment for July 1, 2008. Councilperson Solberg made the second motion. The motion was passed 3-0 in favor.

 
 
IV. TRAVEL REQUEST APPROVAL RECREATION DIRECTOR BEIGLER:
 

City Superintendent Suta said Recreation Director Beigler was able to make arrangements with a certified trainer in Billings for a three day training session. The session would allow Recreation Director Beigler to train the lifeguards at the swimming pool. There would no longer be a need to locate outside training as the City would have a person on staff able to train the lifeguards each year. The Council briefly discussed the request. Councilperson Shock moved to approve the travel request for Recreation Director Biegler to attend Lifeguard Training in Billings from April 13-20, 2008 at the cost of $784.72. Councilperson Solberg made the second motion. Motion carried 3-0.

 
 
V. ADJOURNMENT:
 
There being no further business to come before the council, Councilperson Solberg moved to adjourn the meeting at 12:22 PM. Councilperson Shock made the second motion. The motion carried 3-0.
