After some discussion, it was decided that there would need to be a special meeting on May 28 at noon to discuss and vote on some items that need to be addressed before the next regular meeting. Sonja made the motion to accept the Recreation Manager’s report ~ Treasure seconded. Motion carried with all in favor and none opposed.

New Business: The financial statement was reviewed and discussed. The Business of the Month program was discussed and found to be ineffective. Nicole made the motion to abandon the Business of the Month program ~ Treasure seconded. Motion carried with all in favor and none opposed.

There was some discussion about a policy for 501© organizations to use the Civic Center for free. It was decided to charge them $50.00 for use of the Civic Center since they are using electricity, toilet paper and paper towels, etc. They will still be required to put down a $200.00 cleaning deposit, and part of that will be kept if not cleaned to Jennifer’s specifications. Nicole made the motion to allow 501© organizations (after showing proof of 501 status) to use the Civic Center for $50.00. Treasure seconded. Motion carried with all in favor and none opposed.

Joni explained the Capitol Christmas Tree 2008 Program. The tree is going from Montana to DC by Thanksgiving. Cut Bank is one of 18 towns to be allowed to have a ceremony as it passes through town. Joni spoke with Rick Billman about having the lights up in time. The Park Board will have a lot of input in planning the celebration, and will be discussed further at the next regular meeting.

Free recreation passes for employees were reviewed once again. It was decided to let the full time employees and their families use the Swimming Pool and Civic Center for free since in the Union contract, full time employees and their families do get free use. Sonja suggested having a “board member of the month” program to recognize the many different board members and boards of the City of Cut Bank. The recipient will be published in the pool or civic center ad. Treasure made the motion to approve the policy of allowing free use of the Swimming Pool and Civic Center for all full time employees and their families. Sonja seconded. Motion carried with all in favor and none opposed.

The orientation of new members took place; Joni went over all the points of TITLE 2 BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS. Everyone decided that a more convenient time to hold meetings is to have them the 2nd Wednesday of every other month at noon at City Hall. We will meet at the Civic Center if Jennifer can’t get away.
